She took a trip to Greenville’s library and discovered from some articles in the local town newspaper that Sean was pretty much a hometown hero, favorite teacher of the year, and an avid hiker. She found a picture in an old copy of The Greenville Gazette of Sean and his wife and their friends, Dorothy, and Ed Sanders. They looked as though they’d been camping in the woods; on the ground in front of the two couples were a canteen, a backpack, and a hunting knife. She took a mental note of the hunting knife, the weapon used against the deceased women found on the Swamp Rabbit Trail and the newest victim. Most people who went camping or hunting carried a knife of some kind. She wondered whether she suspected Sean was capable of these murders … which had to be ridiculous. Yet there he was on what appeared to be the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

If Sean’s wife had been like most women, she would have confided in someone if Sean had been violent. Perhaps that someone had been Dorothy. She found a phone number for Dorothy Sanders and set up a meeting with her for later that day. She left the library quickly after researching only one copy of The Greenville Gazette. She told herself she could always come back for more information: meeting with Dorothy was more important.
